Blah blah grow up in the South-cakes

2) When I was younger (not a kid, but a young adult), I always thought people were talking about “Notar Republics.” I had no idea that it wasn’t a small country somewhere, until the time came to get something “notarized.” Then it dawned on me, although the name still makes little sense (I mean, why is it called “notarized” in the first place?). And I went to school in the northeast. They must have skipped the notary public chapter in my school.
Me too!
Well, and when you are done getting your document notarized, you probably put it in a vanilla envelope, too.
(Given the color, ‘vanilla’ makes more sense than ‘manila’. I guess I could go check wikipedia for the etymology…but I thought it was vanilla until I was almost an adult.)
