You know, I’ve never heard The Smiths, but I get the general idea, and this is a great concept. I also have never speed-dated, but it seems to me that having a theme would make things so much less awkward because you’d automatically have a topic to discuss that wasn’t one of the “Three Most Boring Things People Talk About” (aka why I hate social gatherings with people I don’t know): What neighborhood do you live in, what do you do, how many kids do you have; such tedious inquiries..
